The pool was freezing cold and doesn't have a shallow area for little kids to stand and play. The playground was very nice and the grounds were well maintained.
I also found they have some silly rules like awning lights have to be turned off at 11pm.
I stayed at the resort for 4 nights with my wife, kids and 2 dogs. I consider my family as quiet and respectful campers. I use leashes on my dogs and always use bark collars.
I experienced a similar situation to Bill's. This campground loves to police visiting campers. I stayed there with my fiance, elderly mom and dad and our 2 dogs. Throughout our entire stay we received numerous "talks" about various rules we were breaking. Such as our outdoor lights being off after 11(which they were), we received noise complaints during our fires at night which is completely ridiculous when you consider who was in our group. I can't imagine how it would be for a group of young people who are actually enjoying themselves around a fire at night. If my elderly parents were too loud then I don't think anyone can be quiet enough for these people. Especially considering we had trouble hearing ourselves talk over the highway noise this campground gets. Overall it was a nice place with ok amenities but we would NEVER go back. In all our years of camping we have never had any complaints from another place. It is my observation that this campground does not enjoy outside campers that are not seasonal. Oh and my favorite thing is they worry so much about others being quiet but all thought out the day at this facility they blow air horns to signal various campground events. Talk about loud and annoying.
The first couple of days were great but when Friday rolled around, some older male employee came up and yelled at me about keeping my dogs under control. My dogs were leashed and are very friendly to others. When I asked what about my dogs were out of control, he told me he had seen me "shoosh a little kid away". I was actually making sure my own son (3.5 yrs old) was looking for cars as he crossed the road to go to the playground. He must of saw this and assumed i was "shooshing a kid away". When I tried to tell him the kid he saw was my own kid he yell "let's keep these dogs under control" and rode away. He also yelled at me because my dogs were on a 10 foot cable even though every dog in the park was on a 10+ cable. He was rude and never friendly when he rode by during our entire stay. I experienced one other crabby employee during my stay. All the other employees were very friendly.
Overall I thought the campground was just average but when you added in a couple crabby employees it made it less enjoyable. We will find another place to stay in the future.
Nice and quiet. Very clean and a great place for families and retires. If you like to say up late and have a few adult beverages, not here.
First time visiting Oak Park. Was there to help some Texas dogs get transferred to rescuses and forever homes. Beautiful spot!
Stopped and stayed the night on our westward journey. Very friendly staff (Janet) and great facility. I would stay again and recommend it to others. 6/7/17
